Twitter

Twitter is something that I'm not used to as much as other social medias. But, you, have to be on Twitter for journalism. I don't dislike Twitter at all, but I am just not very familiar with it and I feel like I don't use it to my (or its) full ability. I know that I will learn how to use Twitter more confidently as the course progresses, but I just I am really not that great with it yet.

I'm getting more used to using Twitter, but I do intend to build a better, more interactive profile on there. I know that employers will probably go to Twitter as a first resort when I'm looking for placements and work, and I don't want to appear disinterested and out of touch,

I think it is just a case of getting new habits.

On the course, I have done pieces to camera for Twitter. At first I was really daunted by this, and by the idea of standing in Birmingham and being seen by everyone. I messed up the first few takes just by tripping over my own words and not being used to being in front of the camera in such a way, but then I got the hang of it quite quickly after about three takes. I actually surprised myself by enjoying pieces to camera. Once you get used to what you're doing, I don't think it is anywhere near as scary as it sounds. It is only a very short video, and it's such useful practise. Maybe some people will look at you when you're stood being filmed, but it's surprisingly easy just to ignore them and carry on.

I will definitely get more used to Twitter. Tweetdeck is one of my saving graces on a news day, and I know how useful and vital the platform as a whole is. Honestly, I'm excited to get to grips with it and be able to grow my journalism even more.
