Over two hundred gifts have been donated to a project to give Christmas presents to vulnerable children in Birmingham.

#Brumwish is a project set up by Birmingham Mail and Birmingham Live to collect gift donations for some of the city’s most vulnerable children.

Running for the second year, the campaign has partnered with Toys4Birmingham to ensure the gift donations reach as many young people as possible.

Currently, in Birmingham, over 110,000 children are living in poverty, and times were made worse by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Birmingham Live, one anonymous donor pledged twenty-nine gifts to the cause to “give something back” to the children “who are worse off than him”, even though he is currently unemployed himself.

Graeme Brown, editor of Birmingham Mail and Birmingham Live, tweeted,

“Thanks to the nearly 200 generous people who’ve already bought a #Brumwish gift- which will mean a brighter Christmas for a child living in deprivation.”

This year’s campaign has an Amazon Wishlist with a range of gifts for donors to buy for children of all ages, so a deprived child can wake up with a gift on Christmas morning.
