Despite still high COVID cases in England, football fans flocked on trains to see Leeds United play in the Premier League match against West Ham at home on the 25th of September 2021.

Premiere League games are allowed to operate at full capacity again, so 36,417 fans filled the Eland Road Stadium.

Scenes in pubs were also vastly different from this time last year when the 10pm curfew and social distancing restrictions prevented late night activity in pubs and congregating in large groups.

Government restrictions on large events were lifted in July, and Leeds United has a “COVID-19 Supporter Code of Conduct” on their website, so fans were shown clubs were taking the necessary precautions as matches go ahead again.

The Premiere League website also said “COVID-status spot-checks are being carried out at Premier League stadiums, so match-going fans must be prepared to show they have been fully vaccinated or have received a negative test result in the previous 48 hours.”

Although on the 25th there were 31,348 cases of COVID in the UK, many match-goers were not deterred, and attended the game regardless.
